I'm camping nearby far from home and needed emergency care. I arrived and was immediately taken in and cared for. They got the pain under control while we waited for test results. Every single person I encountered from reception to nurses to the dr were all caring, understanding and dedicated to get me feeling better as soon as possible. Based on the reviews here I was worried, but they really deserve 5 stars. Thank you!!

We live three hours away in another state. Our teenage son was in an auto accident and this was the hospital he was transported to. The staff took excellent care of him and stayed in touch with us until we could get to the hospital to be with him. We found the nurses and Dr's. to be competent, empathetic and efficient. The hospital itself is clean and well maintained.

Smyth County Community Hospital is like the roach motels made by raid, people check in but they don't check out. On a serious note my father was in an accident and when I heard the news it was roughly 3 hours later he did not receive any care and was not given a room. They put him on a gurney near the automatic opening doors and cold gusts of wind hit him every time. He was in serious pain and had large amounts of swelling and bruising in the abdomen and neck. The reason he wasn't given a room was because the rooms were, "full". I left and took him to another hospital. When we arrived at the other hospital he received medical attention immediately. He had sustained 7 broken ribs, a broken collar bone, and a dislocated shoulder. Going to this hospital is a matter of life and death. If it all possible you and your loved ones should go to another hospital to get the care and help you need because you will not get it at Smyth County Community Hospital.

The wait here is absolutely ridiculous to get a simple kub takes up to 3 hours and that's with no one else waiting I mean really what r they doing back there.highly recommend the food it is great but better to go elsewhere if you need medical attention cuz they r in no hurry to attend ur needs

Other than the E.R. , the medical services are pretty great.
