I would like to share my recent experience at Kitsap General Surgery in Silverdale, WA. I was referred to Kitsap General Surgery by my primary care doctor, Dr. Mark Hoffman of Sound Family Health in Poulsbo WA. for multiple abdominal hernias I got after a surgical procedure for cancer 2 years prior. The office for Kitsap General Surgery is located on a primary road in Silverdale, with easy access in and out of the location, along with plenty of parking, along with a comfortable waiting area and patient rooms. I met with general surgeon Dr Thomas Wixted for my initial consult. During this visit, Dr Wixted performed an exam along with viewing the scans which had been taken prior to my visit, and confirmed I had 2 abdominal hernias stacked on top of each other. We discussed what the procedure would entail, along with concerns that I had due to complications from prior surgeries. Dr Wixted took my concerns seriously and assured me he would make sure this experience would not be like those in the past. After that we scheduled my surgery for the 10th of January 2018. On the afternoon of my surgery after getting checked in the hospital and getting prepped for the surgery, Dr. Wixted came in to ensure I was ready, again we talked about the procedure and post op procedures. Dr Wixted visited me after I was settled in my hospital room to check on my status, and assured me everything went well. Needless to say I was pretty out of it. I was hospitalized at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, WA. for 5 days, where each day Dr Wixted took the time to visit me to check my status, and to talk to me personally. The main reason for my review is what happened on the day I was leaving after Dr. Wixted came to see me. My hospital roommate who was there the entire time I was noticed how many times my Dr. came to see me. During our days of recovery my roommate commented that his surgeon never came by to visit him, not even once. His surgeon sent a person from the hospital to check on him and had them report back. My roommate was upset/angry that his surgeon didn't or wouldn't take the time to come visit him one time. When I was leaving my hospital roommate said "NOW THAT IS HOW A DR./SURGEON SHOULD BE. HE CHECKED ON YOU EVERYDAY, SPENT TIME WITH YOU, AND WAS HERE TO SEE YOU DURING YOUR DEPARTURE" That comment made me realize I was in good hands, and appreciated Dr Wixted. I would highly recommend Dr Wixted and the staff at Kitsap General Surgery for any procedure you may have to have. They were friendly, caring and supportive thru out my entire pre-surgical/surgical/post surgical procedure. Very Satisfied Patient, M. Lawson

Went to urgent care first, they thoyghtni had a cyst on my tailbone but wouldnt do anything. I had to wait all weekend to get into Kitsap General Surgery. One i got there i was seen within 5 min and 15 min before ny actual appointment. The lady that took me back told me my surgeon, Dr. Wixted would be there in a min. Most places that means 5-10 min. But no he was there very quickly asked me 5 questions. And said okay lets go. Got on the bed. He looked and did his thing. My follow ups were 1 week and then 2 weeks. BOTH TIMES he was in the room instantly. Im always early for my appointments and they trt to get ne back there ASAP. All the staff are very awesome. And try to give the best experience possible. I will always come here for my surgeon consultations and recommend them as well!

This score is for Kitsap General surgery, NOT my surgeon- Dr. Ty Chun who was kind, professional and even called my poor mother before my emergency surgery. I only wish the staff who work here could conduct themselves with the same degree of professionalism, but sadly not. The woman who greeted us was nice, but as soon as my appointment concluded a women called me back to the reception desk and said "This is cute and all, but we need your real signature". My signature is pictorial, and has been the same for years. It is completely legal, and I use it because I travel many places where English isn't spoken. "This is cute and all"? What a rude thing to say. When I tried to explain that I didn't have my license to prove this because it had been stolen recently (I offered my bank card but they wanted a picture of), she cut me off before I could finish. It didn't help that another staffer, clearly in vision in the back was snickering and shaking her head. This is a facility where people who have serious health needs go to, and you are so unproffesional and bored that you need to have some weird power party about someone's signature? Please hire new staff here. Please.
