If you are in need of a knee replacement, run, do not walk, to another doctor. I’m writing this as I recover from my second knee replacement and restoration of the same knee replaced by Dr. K. in 2013. One year after the initial surgery, the knee was described as “loose” by another doctor. After dealing with pain and discomfort from a poorly aligned knee for the last few years, I am now facing weeks of physical therapy, pain, and confinement. There are many skilled orthopedic surgeons in Richmond from which to choose. This doctor is not one of them.
My husband had a knee replacement by this surgeon in 2015. I am an RN and can honestly say he is the rudest person I have ever met to be a doctor. My husband was discharged with a Hgb of 8, was so weak, he could hardly walk & we had to see our PCP to receive an order for iron pills. When I asked if the blood thinner Xarelto he was taking could be causing his weakness, Dr. Kiritsis sarcastically said, "he can stop it and get a blood clot". When I told him I simply meant could he take Coumadin as he had before , Kiritsis said he would have to have blood checked daily, which is not true! I took it after hip surgery and had blood checked twice a week. I could go on and on. Also, my husband still has pain in the knee that was replaced and is following up with another more compassionate doctor.
Dr Kiritsis is an enormous talent. Based on my initial visit, surgery and results, I am beyond elated. I am a R.N. (Med/Surgery) and am throughly familiar with the surgical/medical procedure. He exceeded my expectations in every way. In the event I,or any of my friends/family require Orthopedic surgery, Dr. Kiritsis would be our first choice without any question. Many Thanks to Dr.Kiritsis
Dr. Kiritsis is a horrible doctor with an awful bedside manner. He was rude to me and rude to his own staff. I have encountered other people who were seen by him as well, and they feel the same way. OrthVirginia Administration has been aware of his behaviour for YEARS and will not do anything about it because ultimately, as a surgeon, he brings in money.
If you are looking for a orthopedic surgeon that is honest, no nonsense, straight to the point and very dedicated to his patients, Dr. Kiritsis is the man you want to see. My son is completely blind from a disease that has also caused damage to his bones and joints. He had previous shoulder surgery on both shoulders with another surgeon about 3 years ago, only to have severe pain in both and a horrible infection in one.
Dr. Kiritsis first did his left shoulder with a reverse shoulder replacement. He was up front on what could possible happen or not happen. We totally appreciate his direct and honest opinion on how this might go. The surgery was a wonderful success. My son then had to have the right shoulder done but not before Dr. Kiritsis had to treat a severe infection in it possibly from the last surgery three years ago. He was diligent with the other doctors in getting this infection resolved and again very up front as to what the out come of this surgery might be. Again and absolute success. Pain is gone and he has great movement in both shoulders. Dr. Kiritsis and his entire staff is an absolute God send.
He genuinely cares about his patients and strives to make sure they have every possible avenue to make them Whole..
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Dr. Kiritsis and staff.
