Great people there. Finally doctors I felt comfortable talking to (I am one of those men who has a very hard time admitting to others that I am in pain). They are very professional and easy to talk to. They listen, speak in an understandable manner, and truly do their best to help.

I would like to recant my last review. Sometimes scheduling and orders can have mistakes, by patients or doctors office. Misunderstandings happen all the time. CPM treated me appropriately.

Had a bit of trouble with scheduling, but that can happen with any medical practice. They were very respectful of my stance regarding pain meds---i will have no part of it, long term. The surgeon had nothing to offer me, so I needed a steroid injection in my lower lumbar spine. I was rather nervous, but the staff and Dr. Melloy were great at comforting me. The procedure went well---almost painless--less than experienced with a dental visit! I am very pleased with the care provided by CPS!

I have been coming to the Kernersville location of Comprehensive Pain Specialists over 2 years since there was not a Rheumatologist in the area that specialized in Fibromyalgia. Yesterday, my pain escalated to a nuclear level and I ended up having to go to the ER. The Emergency Rooms are accustomed to drug addicts pretending to be in pain so they can receive a "fix." Therefore, ER doctors and staff are very cautious when a person comes in and their only complaint is pain. The pain had gotten so bad that I was just dazed. I was passed the point of crying and rocking; obviously providing entertainment to others in the waiting area since they were staring. In an attempt to speed things up and avoid my having to wait 2 hours, I reached out to CPS to ask if the person I usually see, DJ, would call to confirm I am a patient (not an addict) and hopefully speed things up. Instead, I spoke to Patty at the front desk. I will just enter below how the conversation went after I asked for my person and told her why I was calling. Patty: She's not going to be able to do that. Me:....not going to be able to do what? Call? Patty: It's not like she's going to call and tell them what to prescribe you Me: That's not my expectation Patty: Well what is it that you.....hold on. Let me speak to my co-worker about this. (puts me on hold) Patty: Yeah, she's not going to be able to call. Sometimes emergency rooms get busy and you just have to wait. I have had to do that with a loved one before. As far as the doctors are concerned, sometimes they get stressed; can it make them rude? Yes. But we just have to.... Me: What was your name again? (Iinterrupted her) Patty: My name is Patty and if you'd like to speak to someone else I'll get them for you, but they will just tell you the same thing. (immediately puts me on hold before I can even respond) I hung up before she could come back but sat there in disbelief. I did leave out that before the inserted conversation, she asked for my DOB so she could pull up my chart and offered me an appointment for today. Since she was looking at my chart, she could see how long I have been seeing them for the same pain I was visiting the ER! I did not take the appointment for the next day (today) because I needed something to happen right then! Needless to say, as much as I love DJ, I will not continue to go to an office where the staff has no compassion for the patients. This is a PAIN CLINIC, for goodness sake! How do I know that the next time I need to reach DJ for something that Patty won't block that call/message, too? I will have to travel to the Winston location since Elkin and Roanoke Rapids are too far. Traveling a farther distance would be better than being treated the way Patty treated me yesterday.
